Never interrupt a
coding session again.

Why Ghost

Keep AI agents running

Prevent sleep mode. Your coding agents, long builds and overnight tasks stay alive while you're nowhere near the machine.

Close with comfort

Shut your laptop lid and walk away — Ghost keeps the session going. No babysitting a terminal, no fear of losing the run.

Set it and forget it

Plug it in once. Ghost does the rest, every time, with nothing to configure and nothing to remember.

A MacBook Pro on a dark desk, dev environment running, with the Ghost dongle plugged into the left side port — its blue status LED on.
Live

Plug it in and your laptop reads it as a connected display. It never clamshell-sleeps, even on battery. Shut the lid, drop it in your bag, and the agent run keeps going exactly where you left it.

Inside Ghost

Blue status LED

Slow pulse · long-press to silence

Reversible USB-C 2.0

Bus-powered, < 0.2 W

Etched ghost mark

Laser-etched, not printed

Clip it to a bag or keyring

38 × 14 × 6 mm. 7 grams. Brushed-aluminium unibody. It lives on your keyring and you forget it is there, which is exactly the point.

How it works

Ghost works at the USB layer, the same way an external monitor keeps a docked laptop awake, except it fits on your keyring.

1

Plug in Ghost

Connect it to any USB-C port, laptop, dock or hub. No driver, no prompt, no setup screen.

2

Ghost simulates a display

Your system thinks a monitor is connected. macOS lists it in Displays as a second screen.

3

Your system stays awake

No sleep. No interruptions. The agent run, the build, the sync keeps going at full speed.

4

You close, move on, come back

Shut the lid and leave. Your session is still running, and finished, when you return.

No app. No login item. No kernel extension, nothing in your menu bar. Unplug Ghost and your machine sleeps like it always did.

The whole point

Keep your sessions going, no matter what. The same Friday at six, two ways — once without Ghost, once with it.

Without Ghost — the office full of open laptops
6:14pm

You shut the lid and head home

6:14pm

macOS clamshell-sleeps — it's on battery

6:15pm

SSH drops · the agent loses its shell

9:02am

Back at the desk. The run died at step 3 of 40. Start over.

With Ghost — lid closed, in your bag, still working
6:14pm

You shut the lid and head home

6:14pm

Ghost keeps a keyboard + display present — no sleep

2:37am

The agent finishes · tests pass · PR opened

9:02am

Back at the desk to a green checkmark and a clean diff

No more laptops fanned open on every desk just to keep a job alive. No more "whose machine is this?" No more babysitting a terminal. Plug in Ghost, close the lid, and let the work finish itself.

Specs & compatibility

Caffeine apps, mouse jigglers, leaving the lid open — why none of them quite get you there, and what Ghost does instead.

The usual workaround
With Ghost
Lid closed
Caffeine apps still clamshell-sleep on battery
Stays awake — lid shut, in a bag, on a shelf
Software
Menu-bar app, login item, sometimes a kernel extension
None. Standard USB HID — nothing to install
Your cursor
Mouse jigglers twitch the pointer every 30s
Never moves. Sends zero input events
Locked screen
Most tricks need an unlocked, logged-in session
Works locked, logged out, screen off
Power
Open lid = heat, glare, battery, desk clutter
< 0.2 W, bus-powered. Keep the laptop plugged in for long runs

Indie hackers, platform teams, ML researchers, and the person running six agents at once. They plugged in Ghost and stopped thinking about it.

Kicked off a big refactor agent on Friday at 6, shut the lid, went home. Came back Monday to a clean PR and passing tests. That was the whole pitch and it just… did it.

I used to leave my MacBook open on a shelf in the office overnight. My team called it ‘the altar.’ Got Ghost, lid’s been closed for a month, builds still finish.

No app, no menu-bar thing, nothing to update. It shows up as a display, my Mac stops sleeping, done. I keep waiting for the catch.

Tried caffeinate, tried Amphetamine — both still clamshell-sleep on battery. Ghost is the first thing that actually survives me closing the lid and walking off.

Run four agents at once on this thing. Used to babysit the terminal so the SSH wouldn’t drop. Now I plug in Ghost and go to lunch. Got my afternoons back.

Bought a Duo because I bounce between a work Mac and a personal Windows laptop. One dongle, both ports, never adapter-hunting at midnight again.

Wish the LED were a touch dimmer at night — long-pressed it and it’s fine now. Other than that it’s the most boring, perfect $39 I’ve spent on my setup.

Fine-tune run, 11 hours, laptop in my bag on a shelf, plugged in. Woke up to a finished checkpoint instead of a dead session. Ordered two more for the team.
